Type revival refers to the process of resurrecting a defunct historic typeface in order to make it available once again in the contemporary typographic environment. In practice, this often means inferring details about the typeface secondarily through printed documents and producing a digital font set which is able to more or less reproduce the original.
For our work here at Nisaba Publishing and Typography, we were interested in the use of early Renaissance typefaces (late 15th/early 16th centuries). There are a number out there which merited consideration, e.g.,
